She tries to replicate nature. Every effort she makes for a painting carries an undercurrent message. Her paintings carry a life, a feeling, an experience, and a mixture of life and liveliness.
Rekha was born as a third child in the eight children family of a Benaras couple Bimala and B. N. Lal. Recognising her wish, spark and inclination towards fine arts, her parents gave her ample support. With this cooperation she graduated in Fine Arts from Benaras Hindu University in 1985 and later specialised in fabric painting.
Rekha’s career as an artist initiated in Benaras and Agra. She migrated and settled in Hyderabad, after she got married to G. K. Srivastav, a senior branch manager with Ralson Industries in 1988.
The couple are blessed with Akash and Akanksha who right from their early years forayed for learning the skills of art from their mother. Rekha is now categorised as one of the leading textile designer in the twin cities.
The composure of village, nature, epic backdrops are among those, which brought her fame. Her works were appreciated at the Enthusiastic Entrepreneurs exhibition at Agra in 1992.
