Surya Prakash

He is yet another portrait painter whose paintings took the Indian skills to the international standards. When one looks at his paintings, it looks like one can find one's own soul as a reflection.

Surya Prakash, born in Madhira of Khammam district in 1940, took his first diploma in painting in 1960 and in 1961 he excelled with advanced diploma in portrait painting from Hyderabad institutions. At domestic level, he organised over eleven one-man shows in Delhi, Bangalore, Calcutta, Madras and Hyderabad. At the international level, he took part in over ten group-painting exhibitions in West Germany, England, Paris and other art-loving locations of the world.

In the years 1962, 1965 and 1966, his work bagged Gold Medals at the Hyderabad Art Society exhibitions, in 1962, 1965, 1968 and 1972 at the Andhra Pradesh Lalita Kala Academy exhibitions, and in 1975 from Academy of Fine Arts of Calcutta and New Delhi Lalita Kala Academy.
