Formulae For Better Health

Mankind can only progress if it is healthy. Yes, this is true - only enthusiasm in a person can drive him, physically and mentally, to achieve anything in life - not exhaustion.

Such exhaustion is also known as fatigue. Every one has to undergo a phase of fatigue - exhaustion - at one time or the other.

Why Do We Experience Fatigue?

Reasons for fatigue in our body are numerous; lack of nutritious food, indigestion, mental stress etc. If the required nutritious food is not taken as per the body's natural requirement, it can not provide sufficient energy. Due to this the enthusiasm to do anything in life is lost, the skin looses its smoothness, there is loss of hair, cracks in fingers. These first warning signals, indicating that the person is prone to disease, if neglected, could cause one's health to suffer.

To avoid fatigue, one should persevere some basic health formulas, outlined here.

Eat Fruits - at least Once a Week

Foods, like meats that contain fats and take long a time to digest, if taken regularly in wrong combinations, could result in fatigue. It is unfortunate that most of us take such food throughout the week. Hence, if we decide to spend just one day a week by taking only fruits and water without going in for any other food, we shall be resting our stomachs and thereby enabling the body to regain energy.

Avoid Stimulants

Salt, sugar, coffee, tea, spicy curries, alcohol and cigarettes etc., Reduce energy. Similarly excessive indulgence in sex is also harmful. When there is excess of the above mentioned, the adrenal system gets upset.

Breakfast - a Must!

It is important to take breakfast. If breakfast is not taken, the percentage of glucose in the blood is reduced with the danger of hypoglycaemia. This may result in symptoms like giddiness, sweating, loss of co-ordination between body and mind, exhaustion etc.

Relax, Relax!

Many people are in the habit of returning to work or doing something immediately after meals. This should be avoided. After the meals, one has to relax and take rest for sometime before commencement of work. There is no time limit for such relaxation and rest, but a minimum of 15 minutes is advisable.

Drink More Water

To tell the truth, many people do not take sufficient water required by them during the day. Very less intake of water leads to constipation. Non-excretion of waste products from the body results in the body getting poisonous, which may cause fatigue.

Organic Food

Spraying of pesticides over fruits and vegetables now-a-days is routine. Generally, the pesticides penetrate the vegetables and fruits. Therefore, we need to wash and clean fruits and vegetables before use to rid them of disease causing dust and bacteria.

Warm Water in the Morning

A glass of warm water with fresh lemon juice taken early in the morning (after brushing of course!), it helps stimulate the sleepy body and makes it feel fresh and energetic. A freshly squeezed juice is preferable so that the natural preservatives in the drink are not destroyed.

Eating Fruits - a Matter of Timing

Some people take banana or mango (in season) either during or immediately after the meals, which leads to indigestion, belching, heart-burn etc. Easily and quickly digestible fruits, when taken along with food containing proteins and carbohydrates that are digested slowly, nothing gets digested properly. Hence, it is advisable to take fruits either before meals or in between meals.

Chew Your Food Thoroughly

The digestion of food starts at the mouth. To get good nourishment from food we should chew a number of times before swallowing it. The sole purpose of teeth and secretion of saliva is to help in digestion.

Body Massage

Massaging the body helps in freeing and regulating blood circulation. The function of the lymph glands becomes recharged. Toxins from the body are excreted in the process and this makes one feel active and energetic.

Reducing Weight

The more obese one is - the quicker tiredness sets in. Very little food also results in the same result. An easy stem in the direction of reducing obesity is not to take food in combination with starch and proteins; e.g., protein containing fish, starch-containing rice should be avoided. Instead, fish may be taken along with salad in the lunch, rice, with vegetables in the evening. If not, take lunch with omelette, and rice with potato curry in the evening. If you follow such combinations, digestion becomes easy and your body gets fresh energy and your weight is under your control. If you are feeling very weak or prostrate, you can take a course of vitamin tablets under medical supervision. Which vitamin should be taken, how to take them and whether they should be taken or not, should be best decided by a medical doctor.

Vitamin 'B-Complex'

Vitamins help in recouping energy in the body and Vitamin 'B-complex' tablets will help very much a tired and weak body. People suffering from weakness should consult the doctor before taking Vitamin 'B-complex' with magnesium and Vitamin 'C'.

Avoid Prolonged Dieting

If food with less fat content is taken over a long period of time, the following could result: dry skin, joint aches and tiredness. Ladies could experience hormonal imbalance and dryness in genital organs. People who observe prolonged dieting are also likely face these problems, hence should be careful about dieting.

Keep Distance From Worries

Negative stress destroys the man. You either solve your worries and problems yourself or share them with others - but do not let them overwhelm you.

Steady, Deep Breathing

People who suffer from negative stress do not take deep breaths, instead, they breathe lightly. This is called 'hyperventilation.' Such superficial breathing may lead to early tiredness. Such people should take deep breathing exercise in the following manner:

Pull the stomach inside while exhaling through the nose.

Next, breathe slowly and deeply through the nose - take about ten seconds to fill your lungs.

Note that the chest should be kept steady while breathing - only the stomach should expand and contract like a wave - repeat the process a couple of times.

Health Note

For general tiredness, deficiency in Vitamin B-12 could be the cause. For anaemia, iron deficiency may be the cause. The cause may be due to high or low blood-pressures or malfunctioning of thyroid gland.

Even after following the above formulae, if you still feel tired and weak, you need to consult a doctor.
